Recently our of our retail store front we built a series of 3 “Scorpid” Gaming machines. If your not familar with the use of the label “Scorpid” it was made up by AMD’s Marketing department. Its a machine that “unlocks” some new tech when you combine 3 AMD products of a minimum performance level. So that you don’t have to jump to the bottom of this article to find out the secret its PCIE 3.0 features and Custom 8 Core CPU features.
While buying the parts and slapping them together as you would any other machine unlocks the drivers on the motherboard. HOW you assemble the Windows platform during the build Truly unlocks the performance you paying for, and we made mistakes the first few times we put these together. So this article is THE resource on building an 8 core AMD CPU gaming machine. Reformat a USB thumbdrive to recover storage
Thumbdrives are quirky they can be listed as HDD’s and that makes them easy to change the diskpartitioning and sometime they are temporary media in which the partition is what the partition is when its plugged into the computer.
Some of the programs we suggest on this site will automatically take your 16 gig and turn it into a 4gig so it can be booted like a HDD from the thumbdrive port. But what about when you want to recover your thumbdrive partition?
- Type DISKPART
- Type LIST DISK
- Type SELECT DISK #
- Type SELECT PARTITION 1
- Type DELETE PARTITION
- Type CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
- Type EXIT
- Format disk as you usually would
Convert Microsoft Works to Microsoft Office 2010 Starter files
Ok so you just bought a brand new laptop and you read in the store that it came with office included….. Only its Office Starter that is included which is a Light version of Microft Word 2010 and Microsoft Excel 2010. Many people used the free program that came with thier old computer and that was Microsoft Word 2007 you are fine but if it was Microsoft Works you are about to have issues.
Microsoft Word Starter will open a works file and it will convert Microsoft Works files to Microsoft Word files automatically. Well Sorta if you have Works files that were made from version 6 or earlier seek a speciality company to convert you files OR save them in RTF(rich text format) before you give your old computer the boot.
What most people are looking for though is the ability to Click on one of their old files and have it just open. Our Microsoft Office Starter 2010 registry tweak WILL DO JUST THAT. You should select the file tab once its open and click the Convert button and convert any files to a modern format so that when you email the files or send to printer function its in a sharable format.
Reset Windows File Associations and Remove the Virus in one shot
Its one thing when you accidently changed a file association and you go to a website for help to use the basic windows functions to change it back. Boom your pdf’s open with Adobe again.
When mister monster virus changes your .exe file association so you can’t launch anything and even if you got it changed back the virus would rechange it before you got a chance to launch your virus clean up tool. Because this is a root kit that is doing this most of the times.
What you want to do is from a safe computer download the Norton Power Eraser to a thumbdrive as well as our Registry File association Fix file.
Now what your going to do is fairly simple.
Boot into safe mode (Press f8 after bios spews and before windows starts to fully load)
Navigate to the .exe registry edit file and execute it.
Now launch Norton Power eraser making sure you have internet access (NPE will not work without access to internet)
Follow instruction on NPE and make sure you do a root kit RELOADING it into SAFEMODE.
Now you should be able to fix any other associations that are broken as you find them but there is no need to click the hundreds of files we have in that zip.
These types of virus’s tend to hide out in the windows temporary folder and relaunch themselves so USE CCLEANER and dump your garbage

Automatically Reset Windows Services
The sorry SOB’s Automatically turned off my Windows Services was the first thought through your mind when you found out after uninstalling some free anti-virus none of the stuff on your comptur worked anymore. More than likely if you found this found out that you need to automatically turn on all your windows services and your really looking for help.
What windows services should be on and how?
- Inside Windows XP Services.msc is more than 168 on/off switches and beyond that there is 4 major flavors of Windows XP.
- Inside Windows Vista Services.msc there are 186 on/off/manual/disable switches and there are 10 Major Flavors of Windows Vista
- Inside Windows 7 Services.msc there are 211 on/off/manual/disable switches and there are also 10 Major Flavors of Windows 7
Cleaning the hard to clean computer for more performance
Most people who come here are trying to get the performance BACK that they had in thier computer when they bought it or trying to get performance to a new level over stock without destroying their machine. Usually the big computer performance hits are all the leech software that has been added to your computer.
“Free Software” has a tendancy to leave leech software behind that is changing your search results, taking out ads from the website your on and displaying their ads in its place. Myth vs. Fact: Stop Online Piracy Act
After reading some of the comments I keep coming across these boycott lists of sites that support SOPA. The main comment is companies who support must have an agenda. YES TO STOP F’ING THIEVES. Visa/Mastercard are tired of one law that says when someone steals your CC online they pay the bill. 25% of the activity online is fraud. Google is HUGELY against this and its because they use foreign countries to inflate clicks and per click prices. They call it “Worldwide click blending” Confusing traffic for consumers. Business’s are trying to buy consumers and Google keeps selling them traffic. Readers are nice but not worth even a 1/20th of penny per click let alone 20 cents. I make my living from the web and I am tired of some guy in Russia who only needs 2 bucks a day income stealing months of my work in a just a few minutes or with a scrapper script.

Gaming Tweak – Disable Nagle’s algorithm
Tweaking or disabling Nagle’s alogrithm. Disabling “nagling” allows for very small packets to be transferred immediately without delay. Note that disabling Nagle’s algorithm is only recommended for some games, and it may have negative impact on file transfers/throughput. The dafault state (Nagling enabled) improves performance by allowing several small packets to be combined together into a single, larger packet for more efficient transmission. While this improves overall performance and reduces TCP/IP overhead, it may briefly delay transmission of smaller packets. Keep in mind that disabling Nagle’s algorithm may have some negative effect on file transfers, and can only help reduce delay in some games.
